Worship

The simple meaning of the word worship is “to ascribe value or worth”. That is exactly our aim with our Sunday services — to ascribe value and worth to God. We do that through singing, reading God’s Word, interacting with the day’s message, and being an encouragement to one another.

Music

Music plays a very important part of our worship experience at Calvary.

We offer several different ‘flavors’ of service, depending on your musical tastes. Our 9:00 & 10:30 services are energetic and contemporary, using a variety of worship elements including drama and media, while incorporating classical church
elements such as our worship choir and an occasional hymn.Our Sunday evening service, held at 6:00 p.m. allows for a more ‘experiential’ type of worship: we have a bit more time to interact with God and others, the music is contemporary and loud, and we use a variety of teaching methods. At Calvary, we believe in one message, delivered in a variety of styles.

Choir

Our worship choir sings several times a month in our morning services. We sing from September to May.

If you have a heart to praise God through singing, we’d love to have you join us. You can either email Tom Coyan, our pastor of Worship Arts, or simply show up to one of our rehearsals. We meet Wednesday nights, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., in room 206.

Drama

Our drama team takes pleasure in illustrating our Pastors’ messages through the use of dramatic sketches. Often humorous, occasionally serious, these sketches seek to shed new light on a situation, or simply allow you to look at something in a different way. In addition to our occasional Sunday morning sketches, the drama team aids in our annual Christmas musical production.

If you’ve ever had an interest in acting, or would like to support our drama ministry through set building/painting, prop acquiring, costume creating, or any other number of areas, please email Melissa Yamasaki, our ministry head.

Technical Team

Our technical ministries team includes running the sound for our Sunday services, as well as lights and video/projection. We are always on the lookout for people interested in serving in one or more of these areas. Training is available in all areas of our technical ministries. Email Tom and we’ll steer you in the right direction.
