Hope Family Shelter
Hope Family Shelter, located on Yosemite between Union and Main has received a major face lift. It is a 1920’s historical building that the city has invested redevelopment money into. Actually a face lift would be a gross understatement, it was torn all the way down to the studs and foundation and then rebuilt. Each unit was remodeled and updated with new kitchens, bathrooms, blinds and tile through out.
Hope Ministries, who oversees the shelter, has a comprehensive program designed to help families get back on their way to self sufficiency. Families may stay in this shelter for a 2-3 month duration.
So what does this have to do this us?
Calvary Community Church has adopted Apartment #5 and it will take our entire church family to help make a difference in the lives of the families who will occupy it. Along with other churches in the area, we hope to walk alongside families in transition sharing the hope and love of Jesus with them as we go.
There are so many ways for people to get involved and it will take all of us to help this become a reality. Below you will find descriptions of areas that we need immediate help. As time goes by we will be adding to our list of areas so check back frequently.
One last thing, all of these descriptions and responsibilities will focus on Calvary’s adopted unit and the residents who occupy that unit, as other churches in Manteca and Lathrop will be working with the residents from the remaining units.
Be in prayer as to how you and your family will be able to help. We will have our first residents move-in some time in February.
How can you be involved?

Help transport residents to appointments
One of the big needs the residents have is transportation to medical appointments and job interviews. We need a team of people who can be available to drive residents to these appointments. We will record your general availability (one 3 hour block of time during the week), if a ride is needed during your availability, we will call you (we hope 24 hours in advance) to see if you are able to help on that particular occasion.
