“Baptism says you have given your life to Jesus and it isn’t yours anymore”
Baptism is the symbolic demonstration of a change that is taking place in your life. While baptism doesn’t transform you or save you, it represents your old life without Christ passing away as you are lowered into the water and your new life with Christ as you emerge. It also demonstrates obedience to Jesus, who you now call Lord. Jesus was baptized at the beginning of His ministry and instructed us to do the same. So in obedience we begin a life lived with Christ and His purposes just like Jesus did through baptism.
If you have never shared in this experience of oneness and closeness then we as a church have missed out being able to celebrate what God is and has been doing in your life. More importantly, you have missed being able to publicly stand for Jesus.
To be baptized candidates must take a baptism class, meet with a pastor, or have taken the membership class.
Children age 6 through 6th grade meet with Pastor Judy. Baptism by immersion is required for church membership unless a disability makes this impossible. The baptism doesn’t have to be at Calvary but must be after acceptance of Christ (not infant baptism) and by a theologically similar church.
Our next baptism is September 12. A 20 minute class will be available
Sunday, August 29 at 9:00 & 10:30 AM in the Office Conf. Rm.
