Getting to know our Student Ministries Pastor:

John, Hoppis, Hoppi, White John,  Dumb.... call him what you like but he's still our youth pastor. Now an old man at age 45, John became a Christian when he was just 5 years old, and has been involved in youth ministries forever, I mean, ahem, 20+ years. Whether you want to believe it or not our youth pastor actually knows what he's doing (sometimes). He has his BA in music, and also graduated from Talbot Theology School with his Masters in Christian Education.

     John has been married for the past 23 years to Julie Hoppis they have three daughters: Rachel Maree(13), Laurel Grace(11), and McKenna Joy (5 1/2). When asked "Why do you like working with youth?" John responded "I never said I did." Although he has no favorites what so ever some things he likes are the band  The Fray, the #10 at Togo's, fishing, movies, music, and sports. I think any of us who have spent more than a day with John would all agree that ...  IN-N-OUT is defiantly his favorite fast food restaurant. Of course he has no favorite color...but that is probably because he is color blind.  He likes the verse  Matthew 22:37-40. Which verse is that you might be thinking? Think hard... its the one he's been pounding into our heads for seven years now... " You must love the Lord your God with all your heart and your soul and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the other commandments and all other demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments."   John drives a 1987 Honda Accord with too many miles (240,000+) miles! Dang John...that's a lot of miles if you know what I mean!
